No salary for dodgers, Wakiso district health authorities warn healthcare professionals.
Wakiso District health authorities have warned healthcare professionals not to skimp on work because they will lose out on pay. The Acting District Health Officer, Dr. Mathias Lugoloobi, made this statement at the midterm performance review meeting that took place at the Kavumba recreation center in Wakiso.
According to Dr. Lugolobi, some medical professionals are still not showing up for work, even after receiving warning letters and having two of them suspended last year.
He also disclosed that they will keep an eye on you and withhold health workers’ salaries if they discover that some have not been going to their operating facilities.
Dr. Lugolobi went on to say that some employees have a habit of having their coworkers sign their name in the attendance books even when they haven’t shown up for work.
He noted, “I can easily identify someone’s handwriting and if we ask your incharges and they reveal to us you have been absent, dont expect the salary at the end of the month”.
He stated that one will only be compensated for the month in which they have worked and that no reimbursement for salary withheld will be accepted.
“Why would you want the government to pay you yet you are not working. You know what took you to school and that is what we want you to do,” Dr Lugolobi emphasized.
In order to determine whether the health sector in Wakiso was heading in the right direction, a mid-term performance review of the district’s operations from July to December 2023 was carried out.
Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Alfred Malinga reported that their review revealed a significant improvement in performance, particularly with regard to health center IVs
