UPDF to recruit 9,600
9,627 cadets will be enlisted in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) this year. The head of joint staff training and doctrine, Brig Gen. Alex Olupot, states that candidates must be citizens who took the O-Level exam between 2000 and 2023.
Applications will be accepted by the army starting on May 27 and closing on June 2. Interviews will take place beginning on July 1 and running through July 14.
“Prospective recruits must have passed English and Mathematics at the same level,” General Olupot stated.
Since the army stated that the exercise will only be open to those between the ages of 18 and 22, the age requirement appears to exclude many people who took their Senior Four final exams prior to 2010.
