Rwandan minister dismissed over “matters of accountability”
Just over a month after her appointment, Rwandan President Paul Kagame fired Public Service and Labor Minister Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya on Thursday due to “matters of accountability under investigation.”
As per President Kagame’s declaration, Mujawamariya “has been dismissed from her position owing to matters of accountability under investigation,” according to Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente.
Prior to her redeployment to the public service ministry on June 12, Mujawamariya was the minister of the environment.
One of the longest serving public officials in government, Mujawamariya also served as minister of gender and family promotion from 2011 to 2013.
She also served as Rwanda’s ambassador to Russia. ■
